Talisman is a group of singers dedicated to the sharing of stories through music. With a repertoire rooted in the musical traditions of the African diaspora, Talisman strives to reach across the many borders that fracture the cartography of today's world and sing the living spirit of human struggle and celebration. Over the years, we have performed at such venues as the Olympics, the White House, Carnegie Hall, and the Hollywood Bowl, and have toured the townships surrounding Cape Town and Johannesburg in South Africa. In 2007 and 2008, the group traveled to South Africa again to renew its sound and spirit. In 2017, we reconnected with our roots when we toured the American South. This last year, we introduced new music to our repertoire and visited the Hawaiian Islands of Maui and Oahu and created new connections, particularly with the Native Hawaiians. Located in the heart of Dana Point California, Danman's Music School has been a magnet for talented musicians, teachers and students for going on 24 years! Started by Dan Lefler, Danman's moved into its current retail location in 1999 !!! Sharing the building with the infamous "Stillwater" live music venue, Danman's has 7 individual teaching studios as well as the Stillwater Stage and has hosted over 150 kids concerts and recitals. Currently there are more than 15 different music teachers on staff. Offering instruction on most standard instruments like the guitar, piano, flute, bass, drums, violin, cello, viola, singing, banjo, mandolin, and just about anything that makes a melody!
