Die Anfänge unseres Chores reichen zurück in das Jahr 1997: Für eine überregionale Jugendveranstaltung stellten verschiedene Musiker einen Gospel-Projektchor zusammen. Dem geplanten einmaligen Auftritt folgte eine Anfrage der Landesgartenschau in Mosbach. Daraufhin beschlossen wir, uns ein weiteres Mal zu treffen, um das erste Konzert in dieser Besetzung zu geben. Im Anschluß entstand der Wunsch, auch in Zukunft lose zusammen zu arbeiten. Ende 1998 wurde GOLDEN HARPS aufgrund einer Vielzahl von Auftrittsmöglichkeiten von dem losen Verbund in eine kontinuierliche und auf Dauer angelegte Arbeit umgewandelt. Da die Hälfte unserer ca. 50 Mitglieder seinen Wohnsitz in der Ortenau hatte und der Rest sich bis heute auf die Regionen Karlsruhe bis Freiburg verteilt, wurde Lahr aufgrund seiner zentralen Lage und eines geeigneten Proberaums von nun an Heimat und Zentrum aller Aktivitäten. Dort finden nun seit Januar 1999, dem langfristigen Start des Chores, wöchentlich intensive Chorproben statt
