We champion the self-representation of historically marginalized communities—including Black, Latine, Indigenous, Asian American, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander, Middle Eastern, North African, Mixed/Multiracial, People with Disabilities, and LGBTQIA+ individuals—through diverse genres and forms of media, such as documentary, experimental, and fiction. Der 99FIRE-FILMS-AWARD ist der größte Kurzfilm-Wettbewerb der Welt. Er findet seit 2009 in Berlin parallel zur Berlinale statt. Die Teilnehmer aus Deutschland, Österreich und der Schweiz müssen in 99 Stunden einen 99-sekündigen Kurzfilm zu einem vorgegebenen Thema produzieren. Eine Jury aus Produzenten, Regisseuren, Schauspielern und Filmschaffenden kürt die Sieger in 3 Kategorien: Bester Film, Beste Kamera und Beste Idee. Die Community selbst vergibt den sehr beliebten Publikumspreis. Das Preisgeld für den besten Film beträgt EUR 9.999. Die Preisträger werden alljährlich im Rahmen einer Gala im Berliner Admiralspalast ausgezeichnet.
