Strike The Gold, a son of Alydar, was one of the top 3-year-olds of 1991. After finishing a close second to 1990 2-year-old champion Fly So Free in the Florida Derby, Strike the Gold defeated that rival convincingly in the Blue Grass Stakes to become a top Kentucky Derby contender. Strike The Gold continued his good form by unleashing his signature rally from far off the pace to win the Kentucky Derby by 1¾ lengths over Best Pal. In 1999 he was sold to the Jockey Club of Turkey to serve as a stallion at the Turkish National Stud. There, his mating with "Free Trade" daughter of Shareef Dancer produced the 2001 colt Sabırlı who set records in Turkish sprint and mile races and earned more than US$2.6 million. Sabırlı finished first for Turkey in what is remarkably Europe's richest mile race, the Topkapi Trophy in Istanbul The race which carries more than US$1 million in prizemoney. Sabırlı entered the Turkish National Stud 1st season 2010
