Since the 80s, Wim Mertens has been following his own path through music, creating albums of minimal elegance as well as concerts that range from solo piano to full orchestra. One of the foremost composers of so-called New Music in Europe, Merten’s music appeals to both serious music-lovers and a more general public. His early landmark albums included 'Vergessen' and 'Struggle for Pleasure'. Since then, he has composed pieces in different formats, from short, accessible songs or Lieder to magnanimous and complex three- and four-part cycles, and for different settings: from solo piano to chamber music ensembles and symphony orchestra. His first recording, 'For Amusement Only', was an electronic composition for pinball machines. The 1984 release, 'Maximizing the Audience', saw the introduction of his distinctive vocals in his music. His releases have included the ambitious 37-CD cycle 'Qua' started in 1991 and 1997's guitar album 'Sin embargo' and 'Ranges of Robustness'.

Marco Pedrazzi (Bologna, 1994) è pianista, compositore, insegnante di pianoforte. Ha scritto su commissione per festivals quali “FestivalFilosofia” di Modena, “EstOvest Festival” di Torino, “AngelicA” e “Corti Chiese e Cortili” di Bologna, “ErrePomeriggi” di Torino. Nel 2019 alcuni suoi brani sono stati eseguiti oltreoceano presso Rio de Janeiro, Melbourne e Sydney. Ha composto le colonne sonore dei documentari “Quanto resta della notte?” (RAI, 2012), “Secondo lo Spirito” (TV2000, 2018), “Pascoli narratore dell’avvenire” (2019) e “The Forgotten Front” (RAI2, 2020), la cui colonna sonora è stata eseguita e registrata dall’Orchestra del Teatro Comunale di Bologna. È il pianista stabile di AltreVociEnsemble con cui ha all’attivo esecuzioni di compositori quali Giorgio Colombo Taccani, Mauro Montalbetti e Carlo Galante con Cristina Zavalloni e Carlo Boccadoro. È uno dei fondatori del Collettivo In.Nova Fert, con cui compone collettivamente ed organizza eventi culturali.
