مجلة الجرس تأسست العام .1996 صدر العدد الأول من الجرس في 6 ديسمبر كانون الاول العام .2003 صدرت الجرس أسبوعياً (ورق) منذ 6 ديسمبر – كانون الأول حتى نهاية العام 2016 لتكمل مسيرتها عبر الموقع .www.aljaras.com أسستها الاعلامية اللبنانية نضال الأحمدية وأطلقتها في الأسواق العربية بعد تعرضها لمحاولة قتل في 24 من شهر يوليو – تموز 2002 كاد يودي بحياتها. نضال الأحمدية مع الجرس تكون أول رئيسة تحرير لمطبوعة غير موروثة عن أب أو أخ أو زوج وتكون بذلك أول امرأة امتلكت مطبوعتها وترأستها وأملت مسيرة سنوات فيها ولا تزال. نضال الأحمدية بدأت في الإعلام المكتوب والمرئي والمسموع عام 1982. الجرس غيرت في مفاهيم الصحافة التقليدي وأطلقت شعار (على الصحافية أن تكون عين نسر وقلب لبوة ويد جنرال). راهن الجميع على فشل الجرس وإفلاسها وتعرضت لحروب شرسة من شركات الإعلانات التابعة لأحزاب وحكومات ورفضت الأحمدية الإنصياع لأي جهة ووثقت بها شركات إعلانية صغيرة غير محكومة من الدول ومعلنون واستمرت الجرس (نجمة حرة على صدر الصحافة العربية).
